Boardroom at Coutts Mercedes-Benz, Newmarket, Auckland

My client approached me to re-fit their tired sole less boardroom.  The design brief was to make the room into an exclusive VIP lounge their valued clients.  The scope of the design work encompassed re-furbishing the existing bar, boardroom table and accompanying console.  Two new hinging walls were constructed to give a sense of intimacy, while a new plaster ceiling was installed along with new paint, wallpaper, artwork, furniture and lighting.

Kohimaramara Residence - Interior

My clients love of colour inspired this bold interior colour scheme.  Exquisite wallpapers, warm paint colours, deep golden coloured carpet and bold furnishings take residence in this home.  The home has a completely personalised and unique interior colour scheme reflecting my clients individuality.

Kohimaramara Residence - Exterior

The owner of this brand new home contacted Parkhurst Design when the plans had only just been completed.  The building site had spectacular views of the Hauraki Gulf so the concept of the colour scheme called for subtle sophistication letting view and the enviroment take centre stage.

Claudelands Residence - Interior

When my clients purchased their 1938 Huntly brick home, it was essentially in original condition.  However the interior layout had its limitations for the young family, so the home was gutted and a contemporary mono pitch wing added.  The alterations and addition completely transformed the interior into light open spaces.  To capilalise on this, bright lively colours were chosen and underpinned by a soft neutral background colour.  The colour scheme revitalised the existing home and blended with the new alteration.

Claudeland Residence - Exterior

The challenge of this exterior colour scheme was to marry up two very different architectural styles.  An original 1938 Huntly brick home with a new mono pitch wing.  The colour scheme called for colour to soften the hard lines of the new extension and respect the softer line of the original dwelling.

Childrens Nursery

The design brief called for a traditional childrens nursery that could be used for either a girl or boy.  The concept  needed to be able to take the child through the years. By simply adding or subtracting the furnishings as the child grows the core concept remains the same.  Parkhurst Design selected and designed the painting layout on the walls and sourced the upholstery and fabrics for the bedding, canopy and roman blind which were custom made to suit.

Coutts Mercedes-Benz, Newmarket, Auckland

Coutts Mercedes-Benz in Newmarket - Auckland contacted Parkhurst Design to develop a customer service area for their clients.  The design brief required a face lift to the existing bar area and the creation of two areas for casual meetings and a place where clients could relax while they waiting for their cars to  be serviced.  The ambience called for country club sophistication.  Parkhurst Design co ordinated and specified new flooring, new paint colours, custom made furniture, rugs and accessories.

Brant Homes – Future Proof Show Home at Karaka – Auckland

This show home in Karaka was built by Brant Homes using the Future Proof Building Initiative which encourages building professionals to use innovative building practices and high-quality products. The show home was designed to show case new products and brands, It was Parkhurst Designs task to get the best out these brands and products whilst bringing together a cohesive interior that was pitched as an executive family home. The overall look of the home is classic and sophisticated, but with a twist.

Waikato Home Show 2009 – NZ Interior Design Award – Gold Award

Parkhurst Design won the prestigious New Zealand Interior Design Award at the Waikato Home & Garden Show in 2009. The award saw five interior designers display their talents within 4x5m room. The challenge was for each designer to interpret the theme “Four Seasons” Kim chose spring and designed a bathroom setting to showcase her talents. “I wanted to create something that Waikato People could instantly identify with. One side of the bathroom was created for the man of the house with a large cradle-style outdoor bath set against a backdrop of rolling green Waikato pasture. A trickling water feature added to a calming atmosphere while a stand of bright clivias behind the bath provided a burst of colour. In typical bloke fashion, gumboots and Swandri were slumped in a pile on the floor and an inviting bottle of steinlager sat on the edge of the bath. The other side of the bathroom was created with the lady of the house in mind. Twin sinks with stunning tapware were offset against elegant wallpaper. An oversized shower, with twin showerheads, was lined with textured tiles. A glimpse of the pasture beyond through a picture window and soft lighting courtesy of an elegant six-drop light fitting completed the room.

Mitre 10 Cafe

Parkhurst Design was asked to create a refreshing interior for the new Mitre 10 Cafe in Stratford – Taranaki.

Auckland Residence

This lovely Auckland home sits proud overlooking water. The clients asked Kim to select the exterior and interior colour scheme and help them with selection of kitchen and bathroom fixtures, fittings and colours and advise on fabrics for drapes and blinds. The clients have a young family so with this in mind the interior colour scheme was based around family living. Although this home took a couple of years from concept to completion, it maintains the notion that good homes evolve over time and this is certainly the case here.
